This family has a lot to be thankful for this Thanksgiving…the most darling baby girl. I normally do not do baby sessions at 1 month old. The babies are past the newborn stage, do not sleep as well and still cannot hold their heads up for very long, so they are kind of at an “in-between” stage. But when a friend of mine called me to request a session for a very special girl, I was happy to give it my best try. Boy, am I glad I did! She is just precious and I had the pleasure of meeting not only her parents, but her grandmother and great grandmother – a lovely family. And four generations of women…how fantastic! Here is their new little beauty…

This family session was awesome….a beautiful expecting mom, a hilarious dad and check out this little sweet pea they have for a daughter… She wasn’t quite into her photo shoot at first, but we eventually got the most adorable expressions out of her. Oh what a few goldfish and toys’ll do!
Mom was radiant…and nothing but belly! I love this one of her.
And it doesn’t get much cuter than this little 17 month old girl…

There’s nothing more beautiful than a newborn being held in his mother’s arms. Or a sleeping baby…so pure and peaceful. Capturing these precious moments is what makes my job meaningful and I feel privileged every time I am given the opportunity…

I titled this blog post “connections” because that is what I felt during this shoot. A beautiful connection between this radiant mother-to-be and her family and neighbor ~ everyone was so warm and welcoming. It was a hot 90 degree day, but we found some shade under two big beautiful trees at her neighbor’s house, who was so sweet and friendly in inviting us to use his yard where we did the majority of the session. We did sneak inside for a break and wardrobe change, where we took one of my favorite maternity shots by the window… I just love this mother’s beautiful profile and the look of love she has for her baby-to-be. Afterwards, we went back outside for more fun with her adorable 16 month old daughter. She was a little shy at first, but soon opened up and shared her sweet smile with us all…and of course, you can see the amazing connection between mother and daughter…

Ok..sorry for the bad pun. But it was a perfect morning for a beach portrait session on LBI with this adorable 2 year old girl! I’m not a morning person, but obviously my model was… she was on the go and so fun to follow around. We had the beach all to ourselves, too (except for a few seagulls and joggers). Everytime I do a newborn photo session, I am reminded of what an incredible time of life this is. Cherish these early years…they go by in a flash. My boys are 6 and 8 and their newborn days seem like a lifetime ago. But I love that in my job I get to relive the wonder of the newborn stage…
Only 6 days young for his photo session, this beautiful boy was so comfortable being held by his father that we decided to capture the moment. I love this first one… The beautiful knit with the heart shaped button is by Mamique and if anyone’s in the market for some gorgeous newborn wear, then go straight to their blog after this!

I am so happy and excited to be doing summer beach sessions at LBI again this year!! It’s one of my favorite places on earth!
On the day of this session, it was beautiful and sunny. Then all of a sudden, right before our scheduled time, the clouds came rolling in and next thing you know it was POURING. An hour later, sunshine! It just goes to show that it pays to roll with the weather… This family was so sweet and I could tell from talking to mom that LBI is as magical a place for her as it is for me. We both spent summers here as kids and now we’re creating special memories with our own children. When she asked me to capture some special beach moments of her family, I knew how much this session meant to her. I hope I’ve captured some of the magic of LBI for you guys..more to come!
