This little girl was, in her dad’s words… “spirited.” She woke up in between almost every pose and gave a good little cry. Luckily, her dad was so fantastic at soothing her back into a slumber, that we named him “the baby whisperer.” Mom and Dad actually came all the way down from West Point for their session …with a cadet uniform in tow! (It made for a great prop!) It was really fun collaborating with this sweet little girl’s mom on the look of the session and the various props. They also brought pink roses and hydrangeas for the session…I love it! And, as you can see in the last shot, big brother was also on hand for a handsome portrait with his baby sister. A beautiful family indeed and a fun session…

I loved this session…even though this little 7 month old guy had some teeth coming in that were causing him some pain…which is why I love this first image. Everything goes right for the mouth…even a foot! We gave him a rest, a snack and a change of clothes and he was back in business! Battery Park City was our backdrop for this lovely NYC family’s session. It was a hot summer night, but the sunset was beautiful as was the company…

Well, with Hurricane Irene upon us, I thought we could use some sunny beach pictures to brighten things up… These boys got so big since the last time I saw them for a newborn & big brother session. Look at them now – all kinds of adorable. And what a change in just eight months!
Beach sessions for children are some of my favorites. Mom and Dad dressed them in great beachwear and brought colorful, wooden beach chairs which made for awesome props. At the end of the session, we were joined by the whole family… for a beautiful finale!

This precious little baby girl was one of my first newborn shoots of the summer and let me tell ya, it was a hot one!! As babies tend to sleep much better in the heat, I asked mom to turn off the AC so we could get her groggy for the session. Well, she fell asleep and stayed in a deep slumber the whole time as I sweat bullets, but the results were well worth it. She is beautiful, just like her mommy, and I love the image of the two of them; we decided to get that pose at the last minute and sometimes those end up being some of the best ones! Hope you enjoy the rest of your summer girls…

Blossom One: Baby’s First Year Plan
Many of you who follow my photography know how much I adore newborn sessions….there’s nothing more special to me than capturing the purity of a new little one. The first few days of an infant’s life are so precious and endearing, but equally remarkable is the baby’s entire first year. From holding up their head to rolling over, from beginning to crawl to walking and eventually cruising all over the house, a baby will grow more during this first year than any other time in their life. And it goes by so quickly…
So to commemorate this treasured time, I’ve created a brand new plan that will capture and celebrate each milestone of a baby’s first year.
Here are the details of my Baby Plan:
- one full newborn session within the first 10 days of birth
- one full 6-month-old session (or around the time your baby begins to crawl)
- one full 12-month-old session (or around the time your baby begins to criuse, this is the perfect time for a Cake Smash Session!)
- optional mini-sessions at 3 & 9 months (or when your baby holds their head up & when your baby begins to walk)
- optional maternity-mini-session

Only 6 days old when I met her, this baby girl was all of 5 lbs when she was born. Being so young and small made our session an easy one…she slept the entire time and was very easy to pose. Her mother did a fantastic job with the girlie accessories. This first headband with the leopard print was my favorite, and the pink bloomers a close second. Dad was also there to lend a “hand” and with more than just the hammock, as you’ll see… Enjoy!

Three months is very young…yet there is such a big difference between a newborn session and a three month old session. At three months, babies are alert, can hold their heads up and can even push up off their bellies sometimes like this little boy. No more teeny-tiny, sleeping baby poses…instead it’s wide eyes, cooing and hopefully with the right prompts, some adorable smiles. Some people feel you can see more of your baby’s personality at this age and so decide to wait until the 3 or 6 month milestone. I have to admit, I love photographing BOTH stages!
This little boy was such a joy….he was so calm and pleasant, and barely fussed at all. The secret to keeping him engaged…just jingle some keys and he was happily interested! These family shots are among my favorites…mom and dad had such a warm and gentle way about them and I really feel that this comes across in these images.
