I’ve been remiss in my blogging, but I thought I’d start things back up with a bang…and a smash…a cake smash, that is.
This was my first one and I have to admit, the thought of a baby smashing and throwing pieces of cake kinda made me nervous. I know that my OCD is totally showing right now, but hey…part of this blog is getting to know me, right??? This boy was SOOOO adorable and cute about figuring out just what to do with his over-sized birthday cupcake that we were giggling and laughing up a storm the whole time. Do I drum with it? Do I squish it? Do I eat….hey, this tastes pretty good!!! There were so many great shots, that limiting it to four was tough, but I really loved the idea of a storyboard. Also, we video taped it and put together a session slideshow that features a combination of video footage and photos. I have to say I LOVE how it turned out and I think it’s a great way to capture a session! I’m thinking about regularly offering this as one of my products. I’ll keep you posted…

Outdoor winter session….hmmmm….I’m kind of a wimp about the cold, so I was a little worried. I think I wore about 15 layers just to be sure I’d survive. Well, the temperature was no problem for these dapper cousins. Some kids are just oblivious to the cold and these guys were too busy having fun to even notice that it was winter out. Granted, this was before the onslaught of snow, but still! Anyway, talk about great models! Look how handsome they are and I love their natural posing. The grounds at Ringwood Manor made braving the cold so worth it! I love the natural textures of wood, stone and ivy…what beautiful backdrops.
A huge thank you to their aunt…she not only arranged the session as a surprise to her sister and mother but she was AWESOME at getting them to giggle at just the right moments!!! Love that!

I’ve really been neglecting this blog…but have a bunch of sessions that I can’t wait to share…
This session was almost rained out, until mom came up with a fantastic location for us (which shall remain nameless) in West Orange. Not only were we able to shoot inside, but the rain held off as it often turns out, so we ventured outside as well. Cloudy days can make for some beautiful sessions as the clouds really soften and diffuse the sunlight. Never shy away from a cloudy day session! Anyway, I always love when we have a variety of cool backgrounds and this little model was just adorable in both looks and personality. Talk about easy-going! He just played happily the whole time…

This family was referred to me by a friend and former client who described this little boy as very special…and indeed he was. His eyes sparkled and his smile was infectious. His mother told me that they wanted a slice-of-life style session and so as soon as I met him, I knew that this “sparkle” had to be captured. He was playful, energetic and almost constantly giggling or laughing. He kept us on the go, directing us in the games we were playing – hide and seek, superhero, etc… He was a joy to meet and photograph, as were his parents. Here is a sneak peek…

There’s nothing more beautiful than a newborn being held in his mother’s arms. Or a sleeping baby…so pure and peaceful. Capturing these precious moments is what makes my job meaningful and I feel privileged every time I am given the opportunity…

This baby boy was such a little beauty. He was all of a week old when I met him and was so cute he gave me baby fever (one of the hazards of my job!) Once he fell asleep, he stayed soooo peaceful and content – which makes the baby fever even worse!! I mean, just look at this sweet little face… Here’s a sneak peek for mom and dad – it was great to meet you and your beautiful family!

Truth is this little boy could not have been any more angelic. When he was awake, he barely fussed; once he fell asleep, he was OUT. This means more fun for me…I can go ahead and put him in a hat or hammock and he just keeps on sleeping comfortably. (Hey that’s what a hammock’s for, right?) Anyway, here he is in all his preciousness… the true angel.
